On Monday 4th November 2019 in the Pietermaritzburg region of KwaZulu Natal, South Africa ReOil was fortunate to meet some amazing little people, and some even more incredible big people. Benjamin Generation (https://benjamingeneration.org/) and Tabitha Ministries are South African Non-Profit Organisations supporting orphaned and abandoned children in their local community. With the guiding hand of Silver Sparrow (Australian charity https://www.facebook.com/silversparrowcharity/ ) we are able to support these children through access to toys that promotes the development of play and education in early childhood, and in particular stimulate creativity and interest in design/science.
With the help of The Southport Preparatory School and Helloworld Helensvale Plaza located on the Gold Coast, Australia, we were able to re-purpose used LEGO (and DUPLO) and gift 61 individually sorted Ziploc bags of LEGO (total weight 40kg) to these children in time for Christmas. ReOil is privileged to be invited to play a role in the support and development of these incredible children, while at the same time playing a small part in minimising plastic waste in our environment.”
The excitement and level of engagement from the children was moving, and the development and interest since the visit has been astounding. We look forward to continuing to grow this project and welcome any organisation / individual who is interested in joining us.
